25 or 64 is a band whose roots run deep into the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's up to the present through local bands like Dale Higgins Big Band, Ruby Port, Masque, Time Machine, The Crossing, RPM, The Gem City Jazz Ensemble and Joe Rockhead to name a few. Conceived by drummer Larry Kephart, who "always wanted to jam in a horn band", its rhythm section also features primo bassist Bob Rapheal and keyboard whiz Tim Wickham, a former Millcreek music teacher.

Lead vocals are shared by Jim Wright, versatile Jack Campbell and Tom Lander. Jack also handles lead and rhythm guitar and has been known to pick up a trumpet or harmonica from time to time while Jim and Tom also assist on guitar, harmonica and percussion. The horn section is lead by trumpeter Dale Zimmerman, who has played locally and even internationally for longer than he cares to remember. Another ex-music teacher Gary (Shieko) Peterson handles trombone and flute, and Dud Brown rounds it out with sensational sound on tenor and alto sax.
